Families CAN be together forever!

The zone leaders ( leaders over a few of us missionaries) have this family that they are teaching that are from Guatemala and they speak pretty good English they were praying a lot to know if they should attend the Spanish branch of the English ward. To help them make this decision they invited Las Hermanas to join in on one of the lessons to see what would best and so we went to a lesson with the Elders. The Elders were teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ how we can follow Christ better in our lives. The couple was reading and seemed to me that they were progressing nicely. Hermana Ososrio started to testify of Baptism and how it is a great step and a great show of our faith when we follow His commandments and how we receive many blessings. I am not exactly sure what happened but we switched into Spanish and so they could understand better. As soon as we switched into Spanish they had a lot of good questions.
It is always fun to teach when there are well thought out questions. Sergio had a question about those who were not baptized in this life and they we looked at the zone leaders so that they could answer. Something about this turn of conversation sparked a thought in Dulce's mind (the wife) and she shared an experience that she had with her 8 year old son about a passage in the bible.
Her son was reading the bible and came across the story when a man asked Christ that if a woman married 7 times in this life, who would be her husband in the next life. Her son had asked her what that meant .She interpreted the answer that Christ gave to mean that when we are in heaven we will not recognize our family or our loved ones.

When Dulce said this she was very distraught, she said then, What is the point of anything that we do here on earth if we can not even live with our families in heaven who mean everything to us? Heaven will not be heaven without my family.

I don't remember exactly what happen but there seemed to be some silence after the question. The thought came into my mind to teach about the sealing power of the priesthood (Matthew 16:19) that was restored through Joseph Smith and the power of the temples. We all testified of the importance of the family and how it is God's purpose to seal families together forever and that we were given families as a blessing and that God does not intend to tear them apart. The spirit was so strong and Dulce started to cry. She said that her family means everything to her and that she wants that and that she agrees that families are special. The spirit was so strong and I saw right before my eyes the spirit testifying to Dulce that this was true. In that moment, I saw Dulce change. She gained her testimony from that moment. Afterward she had a look of hunger in her eyes. She wanted to learn all she could. We shared a few more things with her and she asked a few more questions but it went from her learning to her believing all in one precious nanosecond. It was a miracle that we would all blessed to witness. From that moment she believed. I was thinking about how wonderful the gospel is to those who accept it. She has been looking for this and now she has it. I don't know what has happened since. The spirit was there and we were all instruments in the Lord's hands that night.

The spirit is the "Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." (John 14:26)
The Lord teaches us His truth through the Holy Ghost and when we truly want to know all we have to do is search ponder and pray and the Lord will teach us all things.

I love this gospel. I know that it has the answers to all those who humble search for answers. God is in this work and and miracles happen.

I Dont Want To Get Lost!!!

Last night we were coming home from the completely other side of town and what happened is an experience that I will never forget. We as missionaries always are with our companion, it is one of the rules as a missionary to protect us. And so we were driving together as usual. It was raining and it was dark in a weird part of town. My companion is driver. Our goal was home. It was late and time to turn in. My companion was very distracted because of a wierd enounter with one of our members. The roads we were taking were the main ones and I had thought that she knew where we were going, so I let her take it. Well...we ended up in a weird side of town and she told me, " I have no idea where we are or where we are going." So I told her where to go. Left here and right here and stay on this road until this road and so on. We came to a main road and when I had said to take a right she decided not to listen to my soft directions. It was quiet and we could hear each rain drop hit the hood of our car. I thought that maybe she was going to go a different route that was more familiar to her. As soon as she decided to go a different way, I stopped giving her directions until she asked for them. Although I never got lost and always knew where we were, we were driving in circles because she made the choice to not listen to my directions.
Eventually we got home safe and sound. The events of that night got me to thinking about how that is very similar to our journey here on earth. Our destination never changed but without the correct directions to get there we would have never have gotten there. If we didn't care where we were going then it wouldn't have mattered what street or which direction. But we DO have a distinct destination for our journey here on earth. God knows how to get there and He is telling us every single turn to take and He tells us the fastest way to get there BUT He cannot drive for us! We have to get there ourselves. He cannot make that choice for us. They are soft and they are correct. We have to listen to Him in order to get there. There is no other way. The Holy Ghost is the way that God tells us where to go. If we choose not to listen, that is our way of telling Him that our way is better and that we don't need help to get there and then He will stop giving us direction to us until we humble ourselves and ask for it again. If we do something that drives the spirit away then we cannot get to our destination until we do what is necessary to get Him back with us. I  Know that is true and to me it is a testimony of how important the Gift of the Holy Ghost is to us.

What about you? What do you think?

STOP IT!!!!!!

Is this difficult to do?

Yes, of course.

How is it done?

 Through the love of God.

The more we allow the love of God to govern our minds and emotions—the more we allow our love for our Heavenly Father to swell within our hearts—the easier it is to love others with the pure love of Christ. As we open our hearts to the glowing dawn of the love of God, the darkness and cold of animosity and envy will eventually fade.

It’s that simple. We simply have to stop judging others and replace judgmental thoughts and feelings with a heart full of love for God and His children. God is our Father. We are His children. We are all brothers and sisters. I don’t know exactly how to articulate this point of not judging others with sufficient eloquence, passion, and persuasion to make it stick.
“Don’t judge me because I sin differently than you.”

We must recognize that we are all imperfect—that we are beggars before God. Haven’t we all, at one time or another, meekly approached the mercy seat and pleaded for grace? Haven’t we wished with all the energy of our souls for mercy—to be forgiven for the mistakes we have made and the sins we have committed?

Because we all depend on the mercy of God, how can we deny to others any measure of the grace we so desperately desire for ourselves?  Should we not forgive as we wish to be forgiven?

Forgiving ourselves and others is not easy. In fact, for most of us it requires a major change in our attitude and way of thinking—even a change of heart. But there is good news. This “mighty change” of heart is exactly what the gospel of Jesus Christ is designed to bring into our lives

                                                                                                                 Dieter F Uchtdorf

We are all in the race in life together and we should be helpping each other with love in our hearts and doing everything that we can do to make life easier for those around us.
I know that this is true and if we apply it into our lives we will fill the love of God in our lives more abundantly and we will be mopre happy!

Bad Words and Dirty Jokes!

How do I get bad words and dirty jokes out of my head after I hear them at school?

It is hard to filter our minds from all the bad in the world. I agree. We CANNOT completely control everything that we hear and see no matter how hard we try, we are living in a world where there is bad all around but we can have self discipline with the Lord's help. Our minds are very powerful and our thoughts control our desires and our desires influences our words and our words influence our actions and they influences our habits and eventually all those things become our character. When we start with the little things we can slowly change and become who it is that we want to be!

Image
“The mind is like a stage,” said President Boyd K. Packer. “Except when we are asleep, the curtain is always up. . . . Always there is some act playing on the stage of the mind.

“Have you noticed that, without any real intent on your part and almost in the midst of any performance, a shady little thought may creep in from the wings and endeavor to attract your attention? . . . If you permit them to go on, all other thoughts, of any virtue, will leave the stage. You will be left, because you consented to it, to the influence of unworthy thoughts” (That All May Be Edified, [1982], 38).

“What do you do at a time like this, when the stage of your mind is commandeered by these imps of unclean thinking? . . . Let me suggest that you choose from among the sacred music of the Church one favorite hymn. I have reason for suggesting that it be a Latter-day Saint hymn, one with lyrics that are uplifting and the music reverent. Select one that, when it is properly rendered, makes you feel something akin to inspiration.

“Now, go over it in your mind very thoughtfully a few times. Memorize the words and the music. . . . Anytime you find that these shady actors have slipped in from the sideline of your thinking onto the stage of your mind, think through this hymn. . . . It will change the whole mood on the stage of your mind. Because it is clean and uplifting and reverent, the baser thoughts will leave” (That All May Be Edified, 38–39).

Ler us fill our minds with the pure and good things of the world and then we can let the Lord change us into who we need to be!

Prophets!

Why Do We Need Prophets?

Haha the big question!

"Because Heavenly Father loves His children, He has not left them to walk through this mortal life without direction and guidance. The teachings of our Heavenly Father are not the ordinary, predictable, run-of-the-mill kind you can pick up in paperback at the local bookstore. They are the wisdom of an all-powerful, all-knowing celestial Being who loves His children. Encompassed in His words is the secret of the ages—the key to happiness in this life and in the world to come." -President Uchtdorf

Now who wants happiness in this life? I am sure that if I asked for a raise of hands all hands would go up.
The key to happiness can be found as we listen to the prophet's voice and we can ask God if the words that he speaks are the word's of God. We are living in this life and we need help from our loving Heavenly Father and He has given us the the map to life. This map is taught to us through the prophets that God has called to help us!

"Today is not different from ages past. The Lord does not love the people of our day any less than in past times. One of the glorious messages of the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ is that God continues to speak to His children! He is not hidden in the heavens but speaks today as He did in ancient days."                -President Uchtdorf

We are wonderfully blessed to have the words of the prophets in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon. These are precious words that have been given to us so that we can understand the mysteries of God but God is full of love and will not leave us on the earth with these words only.

Times are different today then there were in the times of old. We have different types of difficulties in our society. We struggle through different things, we have questions about different things, For example:  The children of Isreal did not have that gadgets that we have today such as Internet and cars and movies, and so they also didn't have the same problems that are associated with technology. We need God's guidance just as much now as the children of Isreal did in the Bible. God guides us today by a prophet. And his name is Thomas S Monson.

He is the prophet for the whole earth and gives guidance to us so that we can learn how to be truly happy in this life and in the world to come!

The most genius Inventor!

The other day we were talking to two young men in the street and they were saying that they don't believe in God because there is no proof that He exists. We tried to talk to them but they were not really interested and so we continued on our way. Not even ten minutes later after a good rain storm, the clouds parted and we saw the most beautiful sunset ever! The way that the sunlight hit the clouds and the ski turned just the right color with orange and pink and blue. We looked and it and we were overcome with awe as we contemplated the beauty before our eyes. I thought of the scripture where Alma is talking to someone who does not believe in God and is telling him that there is not proof, and tells him if there is a God to show him a sign. He said "Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator." (Alma 30:44)

God has made all things for our benefit and for our pleasure. Think of the most crazy invention or the most genius invention (like the new Ipad or the space shuttle or whatever is your favorite invention), now every single one of those things has a creator or an inventor. They wouldn't exist without someone to come up with the idea and create it. It is foolishness to think that something as amazing as our bodies or the earth itself doesn't have a Creator. Everything around me is proof and I know that God exists and more than that He is also the Father of our spirits and He loves us and wants what is best for us in all the ways possible.
There are a couple of ways that we can know that He exists, but the most important way is through prayer. When we ask if He is there we can feel of His spirit tells to our spirits that He is there and that He loves us.
That is my challenge to each and every one of you!
If you want to read more about this read in Alma 22

Enjoy Life!

Psalms 118:24 "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."

Life is a opportunity and a blessing that our Lord has given to us for us to enjoy! Let us count our many blessings and and give thanks to our Loving God for all that he has given us instead of us wishing that we had the never ending lists of the things that we don't have.
I know that happiness is a choice not on outcome of circumstances.
We are children of God and we are loved by Him. Let us Rejoice in it!

Trash Talk

Our tongue is a hard thing to control sometimes but the effects of what we say are bigger than we think.

I like how it says, What you say to others says alot more about yourself. We need to be be kind in all that we do and all that we say alot.

D&C 50
23 "And that which doth not edify is not of God, and is darkness."

That is a strong scripture!
As disciples of Jesus Chirst we need to be lifting others up and edifying them at all times. When we choose to say negative things we are letting the devil win a victory. Let us remain firm and faithful in the fight for what is right!

From Born Again to Mormon!

This is a story of a woman who found Jesus Christ and an young age and then latter in life had a decision to make!

I read her story and it is amazing!! It is a little long but please take the time to read it!
She is a woman of great faith.
She was willing to study and learn of things that she didnt know. To me that is someone who is really interesting in learning the truth.

Activly fighting for what you want!

This life is a time of trial and a time of dificulties! Sometimes we feel that we want to give up. Or that it is just easier to stop now so that way we dont fail in the future. Life is full of trials and difficulties.

But we cannot not give up!

When I first started my mission, it was hard. I did not think I could do it. I had made the discion to come on a mission. I had thought that I was mistaken in wanting to serve a mission. I saw a lot of weaknesses in myself and I didnt think that I was fit for the job. It is interesting at different times in our lives we are given a specific challenge in our lives we see ourselves as weak and incabable

There is so much that we can do with our lives and there is so much good we can do. We are not alone! feelings that we are not strong enough or that we will just fail in the future are not the words of God. Each and every one of us has so much potencial. We can shine, We can glorify God! We can be a source of light for those around us!

"Our Deepest Fear, is not that we are inaduate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves who am I to be Brillant, Gorgeuos, Talented, Fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? You are a child of God. You playing small does NOT serve the world. There is nothing enlighening about shriking so other peoplke won't feel insucure around you. We are all are meant to shine, as children of God do. We were born to make manifest the golry of God that is within us. Its not just in some of us its in everyone. And as we let our light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. as we are livrated from our fearm our presence AUTOMATICALLY  liberates others!"

The Bridge!

The poet Will Allen Dromgoole’s classic poem titled “The Bridge Builder”:

An old man, going a lone highway,
Came at the evening, cold and gray,
To a chasm, vast and deep and wide,
Through which was flowing a sullen tide.
The old man crossed in the twilight dim;
The sullen stream had no fears for him;
But he turned when safe on the other side
And built a bridge to span the tide.
“Old man,” said a fellow pilgrim near,
“You are wasting strength with building here;
Your journey will end with the ending day;
You never again must pass this way;
You have crossed the chasm, deep and wide—
Why build you the bridge at the eventide?”
The builder lifted his old gray head:
“Good friend, in the path I have come,” he said,
“There followeth after me today
A youth whose feet must pass this way.
This chasm that has been naught to me
To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be.
He, too, must cross in the twilight dim;
Good friend, I am building the bridge for him.”

"The message of the poem has prompted my thinking and comforted my soul, for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the supreme architect and builder of bridges for you, for me, for all humankind. He has built the bridges over which we must cross if we are to reach our heavenly home." -Thomas S Monson

The Savior has built many bridges for you and for me because He wants us to return home. But it is now easy to cross the bridge we have to put forth the work to take that first step and walk across it. Salvation is not free, it is not given to everyone dispite their actions. "for we know that it is by bgrace that we are saved, after all we can do." -2Nephi 25:23

"And, if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God." D&C14:7

Jesus Christ has provided the way, He has built the bridge and we all have the choice to follow Him.

Good Quote!

“No man knows how bad he is till he has tried very hard to be good. A silly idea is current that good people do not know what temptation means. This is an obvious lie. Only those who try to resist temptation know how strong it is. After all, you find out the strength of the German army by fighting against it, not by giving in. You find out the strength of a wind by trying to walk against it, not by lying down. A man who gives in to temptation after five minutes simply does not know what it would have been like an hour later. That is why bad people, in one sense, know very little about badness — they have lived a sheltered life by always giving in. We never find out the strength of the evil impulse inside us until we try to fight it: and Christ, because He was the only man who never yielded to temptation, is also the only man who knows to the full what temptation means — the only complete realist.”

― C.S. Lewis

I love this quote! We must trust in the Lord enough to obey His commandments!

January 1973 New Era called "The Currant Bush" by Elder Hugh B. Brown. He related a story that helped him come to know how Heavenly Father really does know best. He said,

"You sometimes wonder whether the Lord really knows what he ought to do with you. You sometimes wonder if you know better than he does about what you ought to do and ought to become. I am wondering if I may tell you a story that I have told quite often in the Church. It is a story that is older than you are. It’s a piece out of my own life, and I’ve told it in many stakes and missions. It has to do with an incident in my life when God showed me that He knew best.

I was living up in Canada. I had purchased a farm. It was run-down. I went out one morning and saw a currant bush. It had grown up over six feet high. It was going all to wood. There were no blossoms and no currants. I was raised on a fruit farm in Salt Lake before we went to Canada, and I knew what ought to happen to that currant bush. So I got some pruning shears and went after it, and I cut it down, and pruned it, and clipped it back until there was nothing left but a little clump of stumps. It was just coming daylight, and I thought I saw on top of each of these little stumps what appeared to be a tear, and I thought the currant bush was crying. I was kind of simpleminded (and I haven’t entirely gotten over it), and I looked at it, and smiled, and said, “What are you crying about?” You know, I thought I heard that currant bush talk. And I thought I heard it say this: “How could you do this to me? I was making such wonderful growth. I was almost as big as the shade tree and the fruit tree that are inside the fence, and now you have cut me down. Every plant in the garden will look down on me, because I didn’t make what I should have made. How could you do this to me? I thought you were the gardener here.” That’s what I thought I heard the currant bush say, and I thought it so much that I answered. I said, “Look, little currant bush, I am the gardener here, and I know what I want you to be. I didn’t intend you to be a fruit tree or a shade tree. I want you to be a currant bush, and some day, little currant bush, when you are laden with fruit, you are going to say, ‘Thank you, Mr. Gardener, for loving me enough to cut me down, for caring enough about me to hurt me. Thank you, Mr. Gardener.’”

Time passed. Years passed, and I found myself in England. I was in command of a cavalry unit in the Canadian Army. I had made rather rapid progress as far as promotions are concerned, and I held the rank of field officer in the British Canadian Army. And I was proud of my position. And there was an opportunity for me to become a general. I had taken all the examinations. I had the seniority. There was just one man between me and that which for ten years I had hoped to get, the office of general in the British Army. I swelled up with pride. And this one man became a casualty, and I received a telegram from London. It said: “Be in my office tomorrow morning at 10:00,” signed by General Turner in charge of all Canadian forces. I called in my valet, my personal servant. I told him to polish my buttons, to brush my hat and my boots, and to make me look like a general because that is what I was going to be. He did the best he could with what he had to work on, and I went up to London. I walked smartly into the office of the General, and I saluted him smartly, and he gave me the same kind of a salute a senior officer usually gives—a sort of “Get out of the way, worm!” He said, “Sit down, Brown.” Then he said, “I’m sorry I cannot make the appointment. You are entitled to it. You have passed all the examinations. You have the seniority. You’ve been a good officer, but I can’t make the appointment. You are to return to Canada and become a training officer and a transport officer. Someone else will be made a general.” That for which I had been hoping and praying for ten years suddenly slipped out of my fingers.

Then he went into the other room to answer the telephone, and I took a soldier’s privilege of looking on his desk. I saw my personal history sheet. Right across the bottom of it in bold, block-type letters was written, “THIS MAN IS A MORMON.” We were not very well liked in those days. When I saw that, I knew why I had not been appointed. I already held the highest rank of any Mormon in the British Army. He came back and said, “That’s all, Brown.” I saluted him again, but not quite as smartly. I saluted out of duty and went out. I got on the train and started back to my town, 120 miles away, with a broken heart, with bitterness in my soul. And every click of the wheels on the rails seemed to say, “You are a failure. You will be called a coward when you get home. You raised all those Mormon boys to join the army, then you sneak off home.” I knew what I was going to get, and when I got to my tent, I was so bitter that I threw my cap and my saddle brown belt on the cot. I clinched my fists and I shook them at heaven. I said, “How could you do this to me, God? I have done everything I could do to measure up. There is nothing that I could have done—that I should have done—that I haven’t done. How could you do this to me?” I was as bitter as gall.

And then I heard a voice, and I recognized the tone of this voice. It was my own voice, and the voice said, “I am the gardener here. I know what I want you to do.” The bitterness went out of my soul, and I fell on my knees by the cot to ask forgiveness for my ungratefulness and my bitterness.

I arose from my knees a humble man. And now, almost fifty years later, I look up to him and say, “Thank you, Mr. Gardener, for cutting me down, for loving me enough to hurt me.” I see now that it was wise that I should not become a general at that time, because if I had I would have been senior officer of all western Canada, with a lifelong, handsome salary, a place to live, and a pension when I’m no good any longer, but I would have raised my six daughters and two sons in army barracks. They would no doubt have married out of the Church, and I think I would not have amounted to anything. I haven’t amounted to very much as it is, but I have done better than I would have done if the Lord had let me go the way I wanted to go.

I wanted to tell you that oft-repeated story because there are many of you who are going to have some very difficult experiences: disappointment, heartbreak, bereavement, defeat. You are going to be tested and tried to prove what you are made of. I just want you to know that if you don’t get what you think you ought to get, remember, “God is the gardener here. He knows what he wants you to be.”

I love this story Because I know that God has made me into who I am today!! There have been times when it was tough. There have been times that I have asked why? But I trusted in Him and I stand a little bit more taller and I can clearly see His hand in my life!

SPANISH!!!!! WHAT!!

Spanish my second language:

When I received my mission call I was called to learn and teach in the spanish language. Being a missionary is completly voluntary but there are certain standards in order to quaify, and this is a process that takes a little bit of time filling out paper work and being interviewed. After all the paper work is completed the papers are sent to Church Headquarters in Salt lake city where the Prophet (currently Thomas S Monson) and the twelve apostles ask God through sincere prayer as to where He wanted me to serve. I did not have a say in the matter, my calling came from God. The Lord wanted me to serve here in Santa Rosa and to learn spanish and then to teach in this language for all those who speak Spanish living here.
It has been interesting learning a new language. I had 9 weeks of training and then I came here to talk and do 'missionary things' in my new language. I am sure there are many people who know what it feels like to be completely lost in a conversation or to try to answer the question and have someone answer for you because they do not think you are capable. It is frustrating to want to speak with the people and not be able to.
Sometimes I would sit in a lesson and not understand a single thing that went on and then my companions would look at me expecting me to say something. I would freak out thinking, I do not even know what this person has been talking about for the past 10 minutes and now you want me to say something???
Sometimes in our lessons there are people who start crying because they are having a hard time with the things in there lives, sometimes there is laughing I didn't catch the punch line.... so I pretend to laugh while everyone else is rolling on the ground from laughter. What?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Yeah I did not know what was going on. Or sometimes there is an intense story being told and my companion looks at me and says Do you understand? And I am wanting to say yes but really I have no clue what is going on so she says I will tell you later.

The Lord was teaching me patience. Patience with myself. When I exercised faith and trusted the Lord that he would help me and then I went and did the things that were expected of me I was able to learn and grow and slowly I learned to understand the language and even though I still have to learn more and improve I am almost able to actually communicate with people and they can understand me. It has been three months. I know that with out a doubt that I could not have done this on my own. I have taken one step at a time little by little and with my faith and my diligence I have been given the gift to understand. I am amazed at the power of God and I know that He is looking our for me.

This is one of my favorite Mormon Ads!
It is interesting because this small trial that I have to try to understand and learn a different language is a good analogy of life. Are we not all here not exactly knowing what we are doing? We can't remember anything about where we came from or we don't seem to know or remember anything beyond this life. And yet we are here. Does it every feel like you are lost? My testimony of Jesus Christ gives me understanding of why I am here and what I need to do. I am able to be guided through this life with out getting caught up in all the menial things. It is a process, we learn one thing at a time until one day things connect and start to make sense. (2 Nephi 28:30) Kind of like putting words together to make a sentence or sentences together to make a phrase. When this happens we feel so blessed to be able to live this life, serve God and have pure joy that comes through our Savior Jesus Christ.

Discipleship

I have been thinking of my one of my favorite songs that touches my heart every time that I hear it. The word are so very beautiful and describe beautifully how much we must love our neighbor who ever they may be.

And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow being ye are only in the service of your God.    Mosiah 2:17

Think of some one whom you love dearly. Then imagine that they were in some deep trouble. What would you do?
Now imagine that you are walking on the street and you see someone in need of help and it appears as if they cannot help themselves
What would you do?
I pray that people in the world have a kind enough heart to offer the assistance needed.
Everyone is loved by someone.
And we can feel this love if we let Christ into our hearts and feel His love.

Christ taught:
35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matthew 25:35-41

This is a song text written by James Montgomery. It has a beautiful imagery that expresses our devotion to Christ must be manifested by the way we treat our fellow brothers and sisters here the live on the earth.

"The Good Samaritan"
A poor, wayfaring Man of grief
Hath often crossed me on my way,
Who sued so humbly for relief
That I could never answer nay.
I had not pow’r to ask his name,
Whereto he went, or whence he came;
Yet there was something in his eye
That won my love; I knew not why.
2. Once, when my scanty meal was spread,
He entered; not a word he spake,
Just perishing for want of bread.
I gave him all; he blessed it, brake,
And ate, but gave me part again.
Mine was an angel’s portion then,
For while I fed with eager haste,
The crust was manna to my taste.
3. I spied him where a fountain burst
Clear from the rock; his strength was gone.
The heedless water mocked his thirst;

Faking It

I am a swimmer, I love being in the water, I love swimming as fast as I can and then also see how I can pase myself swimming long distance. But as a swimmer, like all sports, you have to practice, you have to push yourself to do better then you could before. I was a Arlington StingRay and their were different levels that depending upon the skill of the swimmer so you would swim your same skill level to push your self.... Shocker right?  But anyway I remember each time that I achieved a new "level" in practice my coach would give us a set to do and I would think to myself  Eeekk that is hard and I don't know if I can make it!!!  But I was no quitter, I gave it all I got and I always came up short of my goal.

I would think... This is hard  I  am not good enough and I can't make that time and everyone is better than me. It is not very much fun when everyone is faster than you are, it is no fun being last and having everyone lap you. But I always pretended that I could do, I always pretended that I could make the time and that I was a good swimmer. I always strive for that goal and I did not give up, I faked it. I pressed forward and kept my eyes on the prize. After time I improved. I got faster, better, my muscles got stronger. Then I could make to the goal, at first I was out of breath but then after a few times I could make it without a sweat. I could make it!

Charity and Love

Have you every wondered why sometimes you are not happy? Why no matter what you do you are lacking something? You keep on thinking that you will be happy when you have more money are when you get a better job or when you get married or get promoted in your job. Think of the happiest person that you know. Is this person happy because he/she has the most money success? fame? friends? The truly happy people that live on the earth are the people that are not worried for themselves but are caring and loving for others.

I was thinking a lot about this and then we had a meeting as missionaries about this very subject, Charity is the pure love of our savior Jesus Christ, Christ who loved us so much that he suffered and died for your sins and for my sins, he loved us so much that he was willing to give up everything that he had for our well being. He saw past our sins, he saw past our deficiencies, our weaknesses He knows us exactly the way we are and yet He still gave everything, everything in order to give us the chance to have more happiness and to change into someone better, someone perfect. Why? because He loves us.

            I Cor. 13
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

I have had the questions why is charity greatest above all these three virtues, because I know that faith is super important being that we are here on earth to walk by faith in Jesus Christ and not by sight, Why Charity above everything else? There are a lot of great virtues what is so important about Charity that makes is trump faith and hope.
All three virtues are related together..."his faith and hope is vain, for none is acceptable before God,  he needs [to] have charity;" In order to have pure faith and hope you need to have Charity. So then what is the definition of charity?.... anyone?

45.And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things
46Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail—

Our beloved Savior is Love "and greater love hath no man then this that he giveth he life for his friends"  Jesus Christ did this for us. He gave everything that He had to give us the chance to be happy. He tells us that in order to be happy we are to follow him and keep his commandments. The first great commandment "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
It all come down to Love, Pure Love, the Pure Love of Christ

We are told to have this same love for everyone. We need to be willing to give everything and anything for the betterment of another. To swallow our pride and love them more then we love ourselves.
Charity is at the height of everything or everything must fail
Through Love we become more like Christ.
Charity suffereth long,
Charity is being kind,
Charity envieth not and is not puffed up,
Charity thinketh no evil,
Charity seeketh not her own [well being]
Charity is not easily provoked
Charity thinkieth no evil
Charity rejoiceth in the truth
Charity believeth all things
Charity Hopeth all things
Charity endureth all things
We become purified
We become more like our Savior
For Charity is The pure love of Christ,
If we do not have charity if we do not have love we are nothing.

47But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.

When I am having a bad day it is because I am caught up in me. I am thinking for one reason or another about what is wrong with me, what I am doing wrong or what I do not like about my love, when I forget to think and love and care for someone else. I definitly have my share of bad days but I am trying to do better and think less of myself

48.Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Moroni 7: 44-48

I want to become a true follower of Jesus Christ, I want to become like Him. I need more charity. A true follower of Jesus Christ does the things that Jesus does. I want to know your opinion, read and review.

Baptism!

We had a baptism today! It was amazing! I thank God for the opportunity to teach people who are already prepared to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ. We received a gift from God being able to the the conversion of this wonderful woman and my own testimony grew as I saw her faith and her progression toward a life as a faithful woman who makes and keeps covenants (a 2- way promise with our Heavenly Father)  we teach and the spirit testifies to us both of the wonderful blessings that are in store when we follow the commandments of God. We could feel the spirit, despite all the distractions we all were uplifted and the heavens rejoiced! The angels were cheering in heaven for the beautiful evet that happened with the promise of many more joyous things to come.
I say distractions because there were kids, little kids that were rambunctious. The baptism was after 3 hours at church and as a little kids it is hard to stay quiet for that long I remember quiet well... I remember one time when I was six I was twirling down the aisle and I accidentally fell and hit my head in the middle of sacrament meeting.... oops! I not soon after went to the ER because I was bleeding.

Father's Day!

Today we have great chance to give gratitude to our Fathers of the great things that have done for us. Yes, all dads are different, as all human beings are different but we get to rejoice in the different things they have taught us in our lives. My dad is awesome, he is and has always been a great example for me in always follow my Savior Jesus Christ in both hard and good times. He taught me to work hard for the things that I wanted and needed. He taught me things that nobody else could both through his actions and through his kinds words.

My Dad with my little brother Landen 3 mo.
"Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another, observe the commandments of God, and be law-abiding citizens wherever they live.... By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families."

To be a father is a special role, with certain respon sibilities and also with special blessings that come with this duty. To be a father is a gift from God. I will be forever grateful for my Dad, for all the things that he taught me and helped me grow into the person that I am today. I could go on and on but it is sufficient to say thank you!

Some of us may be without a good role modal as a dad here on earth for one reason or another, but we all have a loving Heavenly Father. He is better then any earthly father we could ever have because he has an infinitive amount of love for us. He is perfect.
"God is the Almighty Ruler of the universe. He made the moon, the stars, and the sun. He organized this world and gave it form, motion, and life. He filled the air and the water with living things. He covered the hills and plains with all kinds of animal life. He gave us day and night, summer and winter, seedtime and harvest.
God is the Supreme Being in whom we believe and whom we worship. He is all-powerful and all-knowing, and He is full of love, mercy, charity, and compassion. He is the Author of the plan for our happiness." (Lds.org) and He is our Father, He loves us, every single one of us, personally. Being a father is such a sacred role that God wants us to show our love and respect by addressing Him as our Heavenly Father, because we are truly His children. We can talk to Him and tell Him the things that are happening in our lives, we can develop a relationship with Him through prayer and faith. Just as we ask our earthly fathers for things that we need and want, such as a new car or money,(which never really works does it?) we can ask for things from our Heavenly Father.

"7. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8.For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9.Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10.Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11.If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" (Matthew 7)
Our Heaven Father, being perfect, will help us grow and progress and help us work for the things that we need. On this beautiful day, let us give thanks to all we have, let us express love and gratitude to our fathers.

Happy Father's Day Dad!

It is all in the simple things!

I have learned so much in this short time that I have been here. When I first started being a missionary it was hard, hard to adapt to the schedule, hard to understand the language, hard to speak the language, hard wanting to do more more but being unable to(I feel, even now, very impatient with myself, Is this normal or I am the only one that feels this way?), hard feeling inadequate and useless.
But I kept trying, no matter how many times I failed I tried again and didn't give up. I know that I am not perfect and that I fall short every single day but the important thing is that I use the Atonement in my life in everything that I do. I know that Christ will make up the difference for all that I am unable to do as long as I put forth my 100%.
I testify the importance of following our Savior and doing the things that He commands us to do especially when life gets hard. I read this amazing talk this week that touched my heart it said that everything that we experience and trial and temptation every hard time that he have gives us the opportunity to grow and become more like our Savior. For example when we have a co-worker that is intolerable and annoying it gives us the opportunity to have patience like our Savior. Or the oppurtunity to have charity to others or the opportunity to have humility. When times get hard and we look to our Savior and do what He did we become stronger and more like Him. We are so lucky that He is willing to help us through it all. We do not have to do it alone he wants to help us and will if we do our part everyday.

There is a false idea out in the world that tells us that it is easier to not do the simple things everyday, it is easier not to go to church every week no matter what is is easier to not read our scriptures every day, it is easier not to pray every day. But that is Satan. This concept is misleading and the way is the harder way. I know that life is so much easier when we do this things without fail why? "For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Mathew 11:30) we will still have the same trials but the difference is that we have the privilege of the Holy Spirit to be with us and we have the Lord's help with us as we face our challenges, and in this way they become easier. The Lord not only suffered for our sins but our trials, sicknesses and afflictions and temptations as well. (Alma 7: 11-13) This is the easier thing to do. I cannot express enough the importance because I have seen what happens to good people, strong people, great people when they do not do these 3 things without fail, and I have seen it it mine own life! There is power in the simple things. My understanding, perception of life and my faith are continually growing as I apply the principles that Christ taught and I know that this is the same for everyone
Thank you all and do something fun to celebrate the beginning of Summer!
